MORE ABOUT THE CLASS: Renew! is an immersive, hands-on design lab where sustainability meets high fashion. In this course, you won’t just learn about the environmental impact of fashion waste, you’ll actively drive the solution.
This class plunges you straight into the world of eco-conscious creation. You will master the practical skills needed to deconstruct ordinary textiles, rethink traditional construction, and upcycle discarded materials into extraordinary, head-turning garments and accessories.
From Studio to Stage: This unique experience bridges the gap between raw creativity and public impact. You will collaborate closely with fellow artists and emerging designers in a high-energy environment, deepening your understanding of circular fashion while pushing the boundaries of style.
Everything you experiment with, sketch, and stitch builds toward an unforgettable grand finale. The course culminates in a live public Fashion Show & Exhibition, giving you a high-profile platform to showcase your unique, thought-provoking work. By debuting your collection on the runway, you will directly educate and inspire the community, proving the massive, transformative potential of sustainable design.
Gear Up for Greatness: To dive into production, you'll need to bring your own personal design toolkit to class. Because this is a hands-on lab, all students must BYOSM (Bring Your Own Sewing Machine), this ensures you learn on the machine you will use at home. You will also need to come equipped with a great pair of heavy-duty 8" fabric scissors, a 60" measuring tape, and a set of pearl-tip straight pins/sewing clips. Round out your kit with a seam ripper, fabric chalk, thread snips, and a small pin cushion. You will also need bobbins and thread, though the specific types will depend on your individual machine model and the unique needs of your upcycled project.
