Spinach Anthotype Workshop

Join Westobou's Artist-in-Residence Genevieve Lucas for a Saturday Workshop creating a Spinach Anthotype from your own photographic image.

Anthotypes are images made from the photosensitive materials of plants developed in the sun. In this workshop students will go through the process of how to make an anthotype from spinach and provide tips on how to experiment further with other plants!

At the end of her residency, Genevieve will have a final exhibition of her new artwork at Westobou Gallery in February 2026. The student art created in her class will simultaneously hang in the MicroGallery at Westobou.

Genevieve Lucas is a multimedia artist from Augusta, Georgia. Through the convergence of technology and traditional mediums, Genevieve explores the dynamic relationship between humanity, nature, and the virtual realm. Drawing upon her background in computer science, research, and passion for artistic expression, she delves into the realms of science and the arts to find innovative ways to incorporate sustainability into her works with photography, discarded technological artifacts, and organic elements. Her work has been shown in the Augusta and Atlanta areas at multiple venues and galleries.

*Please note classes will be held in historic Ware's Folly on the 3rd floor across from Genevieve’s studio space. The elevator is currently not in service so students will have to use the stairs.

*Supply fee included in the tuition

*Students: Please email two photographs to Genveieve Lucas skullbelow@gmail.com- a week before the workshop. One of the images will be used to create your Spinach Anthotype
