Paint a watercolor landscape with plein air methods.
Skill Level: All Skill Levels Welcome
Instructor: Thomas Needham
SUPPLIES TO BRING FROM HOME: Students must bring paints, brushes & paper. Supply list provided upon registration.
More about the Class: Derived from the French expression for "in open air," plein air painting invites artists to step outside the studio and capture the landscape live on location. This fall, join us on Saturday mornings as we travel to scenic spots throughout the CSRA to paint the vibrant autumn season in watercolor.
Painting outdoors presents unique and exciting challenges, from shifting light to vast surroundings. At each weekly location, you will choose your own focal point and learn how to translate the scene before you onto paper. With individual guidance and suggestions from the instructor, you will focus on framing strong compositions, working with confidence and speed, and learning the art of editing and discovering what elements strengthen your painting and what can be left out.
Classes meet every Saturday morning at a different designated location across the CSRA. Students bring their own watercolor supplies, and a complete supply list will be provided following registration.
*If a class must be cancelled due to inclement weather, a make-up date will be provided.
Registration for this class closes October 2.
