Indigo is one of the oldest natural dyes in the world and one of the most important crops grown in Georgia and South Carolina in early Colonial America. Blue Jeans would not have been blue without indigo!
Designs on indigo cloth are achieved with various tying techniques called Shibori. In this class, students will learn how to tie four different Shibori tying techniques to make a set of cloth dinner napkins to take home. *Bring one extra item from home to dye as well.
Students will also learn how to mix the dye to make a vat and enjoy a short history lesson on indigo.
