Call for Artists - Gallery Proposals

Installation View of No Vacancy by Larry Millard in GHIA’s Main Gallery. 2020.

The Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art Exhibition Committee seeks proposals by artists for the 2 gallery spaces in the historic Ware’s Folly Building: the Main Gallery and the Creel-Harison Community Gallery.

ABOUT THE GALLERIES

MAIN GALLERY: The Main Gallery has served as the primary gallery of the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art since its founding in 1937. It is located on the 2nd floor of the Ware’s Folly building on the GHIA campus. The gallery’s incredible architecture provides a contrasting yet stunning backdrop to the artwork displayed. A rotating calendar of exhibits features national and international contemporary artists. Main Gallery shows are selected by the Institute’s exhibition committee.

CREEL-HARISON COMMUNITY GALLERY: This gallery space was created in 2009 through a generous gift by the Creel-Harison Foundation. It is a room located on the 3rd floor of the Ware’s Folly building on the GHIA campus. The Creel-Harison Community Art Gallery is open to all Artist members of the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art who live in the Augusta River Region. All works must be original and not previously exhibited at GHIA. Artists can join as members of GHIA online here. > MEMBERSHIP
