PORTRAIT WORKSHOP (OiL or Acrylic) with Joseph Kameen

Join Westobou's Artist-in-Residence Joseph Kameen for a four-week portrait painting workshop. Sessions will include lectures, demonstrations, and time working directly from models. Topics covered will include color, composition, and drawing, with the aim of achieving a sense of character, light, and space in your portraits. *Tuition includes the model fee

At the end of his residency, Joseph Kameen will have a final exhibition of his new artwork at Westobou Gallery, February 4-April 9, 2022. The student art created in his workshops will simultaneously hang in the 3rd floor Creel-Harison Gallery at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, making this an excellent opportunity to be a part of this collaboration! *Please note classes will be held in historic Ware's Folly on the 3rd floor across from Joe's studio space. The elevator is currently not in service so students will have to use the stairs. Their supplies can be left in the classroom for the duration of the workshop and our staff can help you if needed.

The Westobou Artist in Residence Program aims to inspire creativity in artistic expression and community advancement.  The program awards free studio space to an emerging or mid-career Augusta based visual artist for one year at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art.  In collaboration with GHIA, the artist in residence will teach a year- long workshop series to community members.  You can find more information about Westobou and the Artist in Residence Program at Westobou.org
