Comprehending the underlying structure of the head is essential to accurately rendering it as a realistic, three-dimensional form on a flat surface. This class will analyze some of the often ignored anatomical aspects, while studying the dimensions of the face, including the differences between men, women, children, and seniors. Students will focus on facial planes and how light and shadow affect the features. The various perspectives of faces will be observed such as the profile, quarter view, and looking from above and below the head. Changes in countenance will be examined.
The class will develop a greater understanding of the human face with its unique emotional language as we draw several head studies from models and preselected images. This course is an excellent preparation for the portrait class that will be offered this coming winter. Ages 16 and Up! Directions will be sent when class is confirmed to move forward.
