Explore basic art concepts through hands-on activities using a variety of media and techniques. Students will learn to identify and use geometric and organic shapes as a foundation for composing drawings and paintings. Students will discover that manmade and natural shapes can be applied to every work of art they create. A great class for the budding artist! All supplies will be provided.

CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL: HOW TO DRAW YOUR PET AND OTHER ANIMALS (Ages 8 – 12) - Carol Kelly Dorn

Drawing fundamentals will be emphasized in this class as students explore realistic imagery using a variety of drawing materials. Subject matter will include pets and wild animals. Identifying variations in shapes, value, and texture in the subject matter will be stressed as students develop their artistic skills. All supplies will be provided.

FIGURE DRAWING FOR YOUNG PEOPLE I (Ages 10 – 14) - Erica Pastecki

Let the drawing begin! Students will focus on drawing the different parts of the body, such as the eyes, lips, hands and feet. Concentration will be on these different forms one at a time to help develop observation and drawing skills. Students will work from photographs and still-life objects. Supplies will be provided.

FIGURE DRAWING FOR YOUNG PEOPLE II (Ages 10 – 14) - Erica Pastecki

Students will continue to develop their ability to visually interpret the human figure as they work from photographs and three-dimensional figure models. Emphasis will be on different methods of seeing and drawing the figure as a whole as well as capturing the likeness seen in the photograph. All supplies will be provided.

YOUNG PEOPLE'S BASIC DRAWING (Ages 10 – 15) - Carol Kelly Dorn

Anyone can draw well simply by understanding certain basic principles of art. Students will improve their observational and compositional skills through various drawing techniques and exercises. Drawing materials will include pencil and charcoal media. This class will provide the foundation for making art that will build confidence in students as they develop their creativity. All needed supplies will be provided.
