Emphasis will be on the technical aspects of black-and-white photography, so that you can work more creatively with your camera and in the darkroom. Camera operations, use of equipment such as lenses, tripod, and light meter, and correct film selection are among the topics to be covered. You will learn basic density and contrast controls for both negatives and prints, along with techniques for developing your film properly. Basic darkroom procedures, safety, printmaking techniques, burning and dodging, toning, archival processing and print presentation will also be discussed.
